Friday’s Best Conversation Topics

Another week, another testament to the horribleness and deceit of our fellow people. If there was only a way for people to be forced to tell the truth…. Nomination hopeful Herman Cain will find next week that the truth will win out. The support of family and friends is certainly determined by the truthfulness of your own life. Good luck Herman!

- Santa Claus is not allowed to visit classes. And students/children are not allowed to give Christmas cards. Obviously the Fort Worth school board is trying to hide the holiday season from their students. What a bunch of hypocrites and liars, eh?

- Woman stabs husband for using online dating service. What she didn’t know is that the accounts are from before he met her. No word if he was still using the accounts. She knows now. I guess asking a couple of honest questions would have saved her from jail.

- Based on recent events we all know the stock market is for suckers. After all, it is the rich man’s play ground as we watch our investments fall in value like an aging hooker. But having a Chinese cave that calls itself “The Underground Grand Canyon” being listed on a U.S stock exchnage is a very deceitful trick, don’t you think?

And finally, a great article about “How to make anyone tell you the truth” or at least confuse the hell out of them so they give it up anyways.

Personal Ad Headline of the Day: Self Promotion

“The truth will set you free.”

What a load of crap!

I mean, there are certain things you need to be truthful about and certain people you need to be truthful with but I don’t see that each group needs 100% of the same truths all the time.

Sometimes it is within generally agreed upon interpersonal manners to offer a little white lie to spare someone unnecessarily hurt feelings.

Online dating is often filled with all kinds of little white lies and has been the subject of countless surveys determining what will most likely be lied about.

For the ladies:
- age
- weight

For the men:
- height
- job

All that being said there’s nothing wrong with a little self promotion, after all, what is a dating profile if not a way to seek the attention of someone?

The trick to the method is saying enough to offer someone a little insight into your professional and personal life without giving away the store and having nothing to talk about when you finally get together face to face.

Remember to be:
Gratious
Real
Endearing
Animated
Truthful

And the both of you will have a GREAT date.

For your dating profile headline why not give this honest headline a try:
“Five Star Date at a One Star Diner.”

Have a great day!

It Started As A Regular Day: Dating Profile Headline of the Day

Our resolve remains

It’s ten years later.

And it still feels like a bad dream and I’m waiting for someone to wake me up, to save me.

September 11, 2001 started as such a regular day.

I am sure that over the past few days I have not been the only one reliving the horror, looking for reason and truth to give this day a place to settle into. A way to make the reality of the events that unfolded understood.

But I cannot. The images, the sounds, are too raw still. PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) is still very real for survivors, even those hundreds and thousands of miles away.

I cannot make sense of it all but I still hope to honor those that are even today fighting the good fight, taking revenge and protecting the weak even to the ultimate sacrifice.

On this day I offer you this as your dating headline:
“To honor those that have sacrificed we must return to a normal life”.

Have a great day!

My Opinion About WikiLeaks Releasing Diplomatic Cables

The news world has been in an uproar over the release by Julian Assange’s organization WikiLeaks.org releasing over 250,000 secret cables (messages and reports) from diplomatic sources.

I have not picked which side of the fence to sit on concerning the legality of the publication of these documents.

I do believe that we, as free people in North America and democratic countries in Europe and the rest of the world, now have the opportunity to hear the Truth from our governments.

Certainly many of these cables show that the direction of some government policies are suspect.

If this information was accepted as the Truth by the intended receivers, with the proper intention and meaning by the writers of the cables, then the western government’s motives and their efforts of seeking an end of brutal regimes through certain means (war) are highly suspect.

Western democratic people rely not only on open governments but also we rely on Truthful governments.

We rely on the Truth so that we can have confidence in the efforts of our governments as they act on our behalf.

This confidence has certainly been shaken to it’s core. The coming months will provide us either a new window of understanding of our government’s motives on our behalf or all of this will be pushed out of view and the Truth will lose out.

Dating Profile Headline of the Day

Truth and love.

Truth and love.

Monday

Don’t we all just want to be happy?

Despite all of our current personal trials and tribulations, if we can choose our future wouldn’t the basis of all we want is to be happy first?

Mondays always seem to offer a true sense of introspection, that’s what my experience offers.

Another tidbit would be to use the type of dating service that truly appeals to you, not because of simply a TV ad, or radio soundbite but because of the membership that interests you.

There are literally hundreds of small “niche” dating websites that cater from every type of person and personality. From horse riders to whip hurlers you can find that certain (and maybe special too) person in an online dating service.

The opportunities that abound are larger in metro areas, for sure, but that doesn’t mean a rural farmer won’t meet his match online too. There’s a dating website for that. Online dating is partially a numbers game, but not completely. Certainly the eharmony, adult friendfinder and match.com websites with tens of millions of members offer more people to meet in your area, those same members may not share the particular personal trait or behavior that really revs your engine.

So, just any online dating service may not do the job for you, you should allow yourself some input into where you’ll post your personal ad profiles, make an informed decision about the dating services that will consume your time, effort, and yes, your money too.

There are steps you need to take to effectively use online dating services to your, and their, best advantage:
1. select the right dating service for your ideal match
2. post an appropriate personal profile that not only goes into detail about the type of person you want to meet but the type of person you are, that they will meet
3. post appropriate photos of yourself, and only yourself according to the dating service’s photo guidelines
4. write an enticing headline that will grab the attention of the type of person you want to meet and change your headline regularly, not just to keep your headline fresh but to also give yourself a positional advantage because most dating services place new member and recently edited member profiles at the beginning of their member search results

And, as the title of this post describes, I have a unique dating tip suggestion for your profile headline that I will share with you. For today, Monday, consider using this as your dating profile headline:
“Do you agree that truth and love are the same thing?”

Have a great day!

Friday’s Conversation Topics

It’s Friday again and time for the weekly round-up of great conversational news stories from the last 7 days, or so. (I add the “or so” because not every story has a published and verified date.)

Read my comments, read the story and try to remember the essential points of the story so you have something to talk about later and be able to avoid those otherwise embarrassing pregnant pauses in what could otherwise be a happy pairing up or group conversation. Good luck!

- Beaver shot in suspected payback killing. I had to include this simply because of the headline. Who shoots beavers and why? Was there porn involved or was it a PG-13 shooting? Sorry, I just couldn’t resist but you still have to read the story.

- Stone Henge meet Wood Henge. While it isn’t out of this world that archeologists looking for something found something, I think that except for nice bed time reading, all of this nonsense shouldn’t be funded by public dollars. It’s just my opinion mind you.

- Mug shots of famous people as they headed off to jail. Lindsay Lohan, you’re in “good” company. LOL. I think whoever has 12 days in the pool for betting on how long she’s actually in jail has the best shot at winning!

- Romantic movies ruin real life for many, Australian survey finds. Geesh, they could have asked me and I would have saved them a ton of money. Doesn’t anyone else realize how many kids these days mistake “music entertainment” for real life? If you disagree with me all I have to say to you is “Pull up your pants, your boxers are showing!

- The truth about lying. I do not care to admit agreement or disagreement with the phrase “You save your really big lies,” Bella DePaulo, Ph.D. says, “for the person that you’re closest to.”

Have a great week!

Dating Profile Headline of the Day

There are no original shades of gray

Thursday

Today is your one more day to make things right.

You know what I mean. Do good in your life because good attracts good, just as truth attracts truth.

Take a close look at your online profile you posted at your favorite onlin edating service. Read it carefully. Would a close friend recognize those words as the person they know?

It might just be time for a re-write, my friend.

Start your re-writing task with a new headline, something like this one:
“Not new and improved but certainly original!”

Have a great day!

Dating Profile Headline of the Day

Sometimes, especially Fridays, you have to “put yourself out there”.

Being honest in your headline profile is a great way to draw attention to the TRUTH you want in dating online, finding that “special person” to complete your life.

So today, let’s change our headline to:
“I am ready to meet you… hopefully you are out there”

Honest and completely truthful. No questions about what/who you are looking for… The One.

Good luck!
