My 2011 Dodge Challenger

My 2011 Dodge Challenger

I’m feeling great! New haircut, new car… the list doesn’t have to go on from there, does it? I do have to say that the world doesn’t stop turning no matter what your personal milestones are. This is what leaves us with something to always talk about, without seeming self-absorbed, even if we are. Did I mention I bought a 2011 Dodge Challenger (see picture at left). Anyways, read about the news stories below, including my witty comments, and be prepared to talk it up tonight and this weekend. Cheers!

- Simon Cowell, of American Idol fame, signs 10 year old to recording contract. You gotta love these stories of unknowns finding fame and maybe fortune. But are we digging too deep into a child’s formative years when we see dollar signs at age ten? Decide for yourself, the video below is one of Heather Russell’s first youtube videos (there are others, of course). She wrote the song herself at age 8.

- Workmen find $1 million stashed in wall of house. Fixing broken pipes has never been so lucritive, for the state, anyways. The workers were astonished, to say the least, about finding the cash in the walls but no reason was given for the police being called. Considering the city’s nearness to the Mexican border (El Paso) finding large amounts of cash stashed in walls is usually attributed to ill-gotten gains (read: drug money) and that’s a good enough reason to me to not just take the money and run. Good job guys!

- Does knowing that 30% of the purchase price of your favorite digital magazine going to Apple make you hesitate about making the purchase? Seriously, 30%? No wonder Apple is one of the most cash-rich companies in the world. Personally I think it’s too big of a slice of the pie, cheers to Apple for holding the world’s publishers hostage though. Anyone want to donate some shares in Apple stock to me? Or build Steve Jobs a house?

- Get ahead in life and “How to think like a shrink” will get you started. Nail down the answers to the “Big Three Questions” and you’ll have enough info about anybody to keep you busily deciphering it for the rest of your relationship with that person, should you decide to take on the task. The Big Three Questions are (in my own words, read the article for their exact wording):
- Did they, and do they still, get along for family members?
- What was your life goal in your early teens (13 - 16)? Have your goals changed and why.
- If you are alone in a room with a person of the same sex do you feel homosexually challenged?

HD Mini DVR with LCD (Night Vision, Motion Detection)

I have one of these cameras. No worries about the “no fault” car accident claims with the video evidence on my side. Check it out for yourself! Primarily designed to be mounted on a car dashboard or windshield, this high speed HD video recorder enables you to easily capture video of road situations. Common uses include: insurance purposes, court evidence, capturing an officer’s abusive behavior or just plain fun! However, this handy little device is not limited to car use only. With the included battery you can take it anywhere. The camera is palm-sized so you can easily use it anywhere and slip it in your pocket when done. There are a lot of these on sale at ebay.com but none have this low price, low shipping and 1 year warranty.

Friday’s News Wrap-up for Conversations to Talk About

It’s Christmas Day… YEAH!!

… you have places to go and/or people to chat (maybe online) with… Whatever you’re going to be doing today, and this holiday weekend, you’ll need something to talk about. Especially all you people meeting the girl-/boy-friends parents and families for the first time during this holiday celebration.

So this is what you want to read so you know something to be able to talk intelligently about. Read on.

- Wikileaks all 250,000 documents leaked. The Norwegian paper Aftenposten says they have all of the more than 250,000 wikileaks documents before they will all be released to the newspapers that so far are only releasing a few of the US diplomatic cables at a time. First sex crime allegations and now this… has Wiki-leaks become a parody of their own stated mission?

- Steve Jobs is “Person of the Year”. The British Financial Times has made their pick and it’s Apple’s CEO to carry the torch forward. Did Mr. Jobs really deserve this honor? It’s one thing to sell some stuff, but on a whole outlook I think not.

- Studying icicles offers weird explanations of how they grow and why they are shaped the way they are. I’m not sure where or why this story is here but hey, it’s the holiday’s, right?

- Man charged with causing unnecessary suffering to fish after buying it and swallowing it. Video of alleged crime is somewhere on facebook.
