HowAboutWe.com - Is It Good Enough For You?

I recently reviewed the dating service “HowAboutWe.com” and I have to say that I am a little impressed with this fairly new dating service (about 18 months old) but I have some very deep reservations as well. Let’s dig in:

WHAT THEY SAY: Now online dating is all about getting offline. Just say “How about we…” and post the dates you want to go on.

WHAT I FOUND: I can’t really be certain if HowAboutWe.com is just another fad in the online dating world or if they really have something unique to bring to the dating experience.

WHAT YOU’LL FIND: Easy to join, a few minutes worth of “must answer” questions before you get a good look. Low membership costs but without paying you’ll never be certain what you’re getting here. Straight, same sex and even something for couples (!?) available.

Online Personal Ad Headline of the Day: Happy Halloween!

Are you wearing something pretty? Or pretty scary?

Halloween is like New Year’s Eve, a time to mark the passing of fears instead of time, to watch as others participate in the celebration of moving forward without that fear.

Consider your fears and what changes can be made in the future to combat and/or defeat them. Confidence is a wonderful feeling and is the direct opposite of fear.

For your dating profile headline today try posting this:
“I might not have all the answers but I hope I have the ones that matter to you.”

Have a trick or treat kind of day!

Real Dating: Dating Profile Headline of the Day

Do you know the real secret to using online dating services to actually get dates?

I’d be surprised if you answered yes because most people don’t know the right answer. Hell, they don’t even know it was a question at all.

The answer I’m going to give you is this: Show your best side.

The answer isn’t that much of a surprise but it is a secret because most people don’t even consider the possibility that showing their best side, and not the side that they expect someone will want to see, will actually be the way to get dates using an online dating service.

If you’re shopping does the freshest piece of meat fetch the highest price? Of course it does.

It’s packaging, great display space and an understanding that what is being offered is the real deal.
(Take a great picture, use the best online dating services and make only honest promises to the people you chat up.)

So be the real deal in your online profile and the messages you send to the people that contact you and those that you contact first.

Reality — it’s something we all have to deal with sooner or later so you might as well start on the sooner side of life.

For your headline today try this:
“The only honest and true person you’ll browse through today.”

Have a great day!

Connecting: Dating Profile Headline of the Day

Finding love online

Monday

If I could tell you one thing that would make a difference in your dating life what would it be?

Would I tell you that there are plenty of fish in the sea and sometime soon you’ll hook a keeper?

Maybe I’d say that if you spent more on your wardrobe than your fast food meals you’d be more attactive; or maybe that having a shower once a week ins’t enough.

The reality is that there is no one solution, just as there is no one person that can have the answer.

I can tell you that I have plenty of answers for plenty of questions, answers to just about every dating situation you’d find yourself in. And if your situation is that unique you can email me and I’ll offer help directly to you.

I like to help you get creative with your personal ad profile headline because it’s tough to stand out in a list of profiles and if you can manage to get that first look from someone you have just bettered your odds of finding love online.

Today, let’s try this headline on your profile:
“I missed you on that other dating site so let’s connect here.”

Have a great day!

Online Dating: Dating Profile Headline of the Day

3days Free with Perfectmatch.com

Sunday

Another glorious day, despite the weather forecast, and a million things to not do so I, and you, can have a relaxing day.

Put away the vacuum and bathroom cleaners. Leave the dishes and the dust bunnies to be dealt with another day.

Today is for relaxing and, of course, online dating.

I want you to feel comfortable as you login and enter your online dating adventure. Today is for a quick, but thoughtful, edit of your profile. Maybe add a couple more recent photos of yourself (activity photos are the best just make sure you’re the only person in the pictures).

As you think of new things to write about yourself, I have a question that you can answer in your profile: Which is your favorite season of the year ad why?

As we explore ourselves to find attractive qualities to put into our profile it’s important to remember you need to include the things about yourself that you want to have in common with someone. Concentrate on those things that are joyful and can easily be shared.

If you don’t have a dating service to call your own I invite you to join Perfectmatch.com with an offer that’s easy to swallow: Perfectmatch.com New 3-day Free Trial.
Perfectmatch.com is a dating service of very high quality and does require members to be subscribe to the service to contact others but this free trial will get you started with all features and contact is allowed for the three days.

My suggestion for your personal ad headline to day is:
“I put off my laundry to look for you here.”

Have a great day!

CNN: Don’t be offended by online-dating rejection

This excerpt is from an article on CNN.com. Click the link at the end to read the complete article.

Online dating seems like the pinnacle of modernity, an online meat market where glassy-eyed humans browse possible suitors, sorted for ease of shopping by size, shape and moral fabric.

So advanced does it appear, so streamlined and slick-interfaced and “Jetsons”-esque, that it’s easy to overlook a very basic truth: Online dating is the freaking savanna. Circa 2 million years ago. As in, early humans tearing around the open grasslands without much regard for courtship courtesy.

When we type in our logins and go surfing for love, out come all our animalistic instincts: We refuse to give a second look to those who don’t meet our physical requirements, rudely ignore those we don’t find worthy and generally let our ids run wild.

Valentine’s Day: Dating Profile Headline of the Day

Happy Valentine's Day!

Monday - In the Month of Love

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Be mine and no others, love me still, no matter my faults.

I do not agree with the “love anarchists” that believe Valentine’s Day is a conspiracy of the flower sellers, greeting card companies and candy makers.

No, I believe that Valentine’s Day (in the northern hemisphere) is a day of apology between the sexes. After a few months of early nightfall and cold weather, Valentine’s Day came about to rekindle love and affection between a man and a woman. An apology of sorts for bad behavior as caused by being resricted to the home through a dark and cold winter.

That’s what I believe.

Now, whether you also believe what I believe, or you are unconvinced, doesn’t matter. What does matter is your own social circumstances and how your social position (from single and not dating to single and dating) can chnage with your adventure into online dating.

Because online dating is an adventure and because you should be finding people to connect with outside of your usual contacts of friends, co-workers and business associates.

I’m not going to go into the whole “how to write your online dating profile” or which of the “top ten dating services” you should join. That’s been handled on different pages and posts.

I am going to offer to you my suggestion of a headline for your dating profile today, if you’re interested (and I have a feeling you are) so here goes:
“We are both here for the same thing, I hope.”

Have a great Valentine’s Day.

Black Friday: Dating Profile Headline of the Day

Friday

I would say let the madness begin but for many holiday shoppers they’ve been in line for hours and shopped already and are now back at home, cosily in bed.

Yes, Black Friday has taken it’s first victims.

Now, whether you are at home, at work planning a later shopping trip to forage through the leftovers, I have one word of caution for you: sometimes the deals aren’t that good, so knoiw what you’re buying. Or just wait for the storm to pass and shop at home, online, on Cyber Monday.

Your choice.

Online dating does not have a sale, it’s the same people in different laces, so you have to have your “warrior helmut of love” on and storm the walls of several dating services from not to New Year’s Eve so youeither have a date or you’ve had a few dates and are preparing to ask someone out on another date for New Year’s Eve. That’s our goal now.

To help you on this task I offer this headline for you to use today:
“You like? Let’s chat and maybe we’ll date!”

Have a great day!

Dating Profile Headline of the Day

Anywhere and anything...

Wednesday

If you could suspend reality and have anything happen, anything at all, what would you become?
- The world’s biggest billionaire?
- The world’s sexiest person?
- The world’s biggest music artist?
- The best known actor?

The choices really are limitless but there can be only one choice? (No, you can’t choose to have extra choices!)

I know I’d choose to be the best romantic. Why? Because if you have romance in your life you will get everything else you need and you don’t even have to be deceptive about wanting those other things either.

I hope that the answer satisfies you and gives you pause for any other answer. Life is full of surprises, eh?

I’m surprised too…

Surprises aren’t always the best thing to do when you’re meeting people but at the same time a little bit of difference, of challenge, keeps the events in your life fresh.

No one likes a stale life, right?

Let’s work on adding some romance, and a bit of a surprise, into your life and the next great person you meet, their life, too.

Start with a great headline that will get their attention and start them on the road to attraction for you. Post this for your online dating headline today:
“Great looks and personality too!”

Have a great day!

One thing I like about… eharmony.com

One thing I like about… eharmony.com is that they are still in the top ten of online dating services, almost from the first day when they came online 10 years ago.

eharmony.com has managed quite a few storms, not the least being called a religious fanatical dating service catering and dishing up a modified version of christian morals, then bending (almost breaking) under threat of lawsuit for excluding gay and lesbian members in the USA from the dating service.

But with more than 550 marriages daily between members, I can say with certainty that a l.ot ofpeople begand and ended their search for that someone special with eharmony.com.

The only question is, will you be next?
