ProfilePro: Match.com March Marathon

If you think of yourself as “less-than-perfect”, how well do you think you’d be able to write about yourself in a positive light?

Besides public speaking, one of the categories that is hardest to be talkative in is when you have to talk about yourself, share intimately your positives and minimalize your negatives and still come across as a nice, caring and loving person that someone else would want to meet.

Yes, describing yourself out loud is a very hard task for many people. Describing yourself to an anonymous and judgemental audiance can be “deer in the headlights” frightening.

This is where Match.com has you covered, they offer a professional writers service that can fine tune and offer some critical elements to your profile that will help others (people that have not yet met you) find a level of attraction in you by emphasizing your good qualities without being egotistic or self-involved beyond redemption and show you off in the best possible light. This is a great feature/service!

Match.com ProfilePro Feature

You do have to pay for this service and you’ll have an expert profile writer to review your existing profile, ask you some questions (if needed) and make the most of what you’ve told about yourself into a profile that becomes an interesting mini-bio about yourself that you would have written if only you knew how.

You don’t have to use the profile that is written for you but there isn’t a refund of the service cost if you decide not to. As well, you may be asked to have a better main profile picture of you made available for your updated profile and that could include Match.com suggesting professional photographer services to you, again at an additional fee.

Most people are anxious when they have to talk about themselves about their deepest desires and personality traits. It’s good to know that there is a professional waiting in the wings if you need help.

You don’t need to be a premium member (subscriber) to use this service, obviously you’ll receive the most attention and be able to communicate more with other members if you are a subscribing member of Match.com.

You can join here and receive a 7 day free trial premium membership today.

So if your curiosity is about to kill the cat, pay the fee and see who’s behind door number 1, 2 and maybe even 3.

Section 2
This area of search (found under “Section 1″) offers three additional search options: Mutual Match (You’re searching for each other); Reverse Match (They’re searching for someone like you); Online Now (Online and within a set distance from you). Three great ways to move your serach beyond the standard search functions.

Section 3
This area shows the profiles of four new members that are in your area, matching by city or postal/zip code. It also has a “search by username” in case in a chat you get someone’s name but maybe it’s a bit wrong, you can try to find somoen using this search function.

Match.com March Marathon: Profiles

Day 6 of our Match March Marathon where we take a close look at the Match.com Personals dating service member features. Today we’re going to look at the “Profile” page you arrive at after clicking “Profile” on your member home page. The word “Profile” is in the same place on both pages so it’s easy to find (top right corner).

Moving across the page, from left to right, you will first see the main picture of your profile, and you can change the photo and add more photos to your profile from a link to the right.
Under your photo is a “Profile Help” link that invites you to have a professional profile editor work with you to bring the best of yourself to words. If you’re flummoxed about how to describe yourself to others, this might be an advanced (paid) feature you’ll want to take a second look at.

From this next right sction of this page you can view your main profile editor. This is the place to update the words that other people see first, like your headline. You can add photos and change your primary profile picture by clicking the “Add/Edit Photos” link, just a smidge more to the right.
You can see your profile as others will see it, three different ways: private view (your eyes only); public view (as others see it); in search results. Directly underneath that is your “Visibility” and you can selext to hide, or show your profile here.
The next link down allows you to be “Put me in the spotlight” (by clicking ‘consider me’), which is another free feature that gives your profile “feature” status, higher search placement and you may even show up on Match.com advertisements anywhere on the Internet. The long for this type of advanced visibility to long, so don’t be surprised if you don’t get picked. Alternatively you can click the “don’t consider me” to not be selected for this type of personal promotion.
The next link down (These links so far in one column, see picture below)is another repeated link from other pages and has already beed discussed, the “Like at first sight” quiz. Hey, got a minute? Take it again now.

The third “column” section starts off with “Review Your Matchwords?”, “Matchwords” are rather like “blog tags” single words that are used to describe yourself. These words that you choose are also shown with your main profile and you can easily add/delete words from this page.

Well, that is a very active page with a lot of important links to follow, visit it often and visit it more often with the intention of editing several areas if you’re not getting many messages or winks.

Like At First Sight: Match.com March Marathon

Welcome to Day 5 of our Match.com Marathon where we closely examine all the features available to members.

In this part of our marathon we will be looking at the “Like At First Sight” feature.

“Like At First Sight” is a short, visual quiz that will help Match.com refine your preferences and be able to better match you up with people you’ll like. This helps to ttake some of the “randomness” out of the Match.com matching system.

Like At First Sight

In the quiz you’ll be asked a series of questions each having a multiple choice answer which is a picture of a body part that you are attracted to, this includes faces, hair styles, clothing styles and more.

You can take this quiz as many times as you like, but it is only the last test that refeines your preferences with any previous completions of the “Like At First Sight” preferences being eliminated.

“Like At First Sight” only takes a few minutes to complete and it’s a rather fun quiz where you’ll certainly learn a little about your own preferences towards others.

Take this quiz now at Match.com but join now and receive a 7 day free trial membership because this quiz is only for members (free and premium).

Have fun!

Match.com March Marathon

Day 4 of the Match.com March Marathon

Let’s dig deeper into your “Daily 5” feature. The menu on the left (see image below) tracks the important information related to this feature and your “Daily 5″ matche member profiles will be on the right.

The “Daily 5” is supposed to be up to five matches brought to your attention by being posted to your member home page that the Match.com matching system says are within the preferences you have set for a member matching the type of person you would like to meet.

Match.com March Marathon: Daily 5

The main idea is to match you with someone based on your preferences as well as refining your preferences by choosing one of the three options from the “Does she/he spark your interest?” question. Future Daily 5′s will be selected from this enhanced preference information. Select one of the answers and the next Daily 5 choice will be then displayed. Be warned though, answering “No” with any of the Daily 5 matches and that person is not going to be displayed to you again in any search results, Daily 5, or even when you browse the personal profiles.

The person that has been sent to you as a match is not sent your profile as a “Daily 5” match. This is a one-way match service, not to say that eventually this person won’t be sent your profile, it just doesn’t happen simutaneously.

When you are in another member’s “Daily Five” and if that person has expressed interest in you, you’ll get a notification in the “They’re Interested” Daily 5 menu area. This menu also keeps track of who you are interested in and your maybes.

Want to see your own “Daily 5″? Become a member at Match.com Join now and receive a 7 day free trial membership. Once you’ve completed your profile and the preferences of the person you’d like to meet within a couple of days your “Daily 5″ will begin to appear on your member page.

Match.com March Marathon

Match.com Personals

Today, Day Two, we’re going to start with completing our profile.

Every step in the Match.com profile has been carefully crafted to not only provide you a comfortable place to talk about yourself but also with enough tips and help that will inspire you to write well about yourself without being egotistic or seeming narcissistic.

If you follow along step-by-step, you will easily fall into step with Match.com and how to best use this popular dating service to your benefit.

About Me profile section

With the “About Me” section you’re asked to answer some questions by multiple choice, and other questions in essay form. Yes, I know, “essay form”, I bet you thought you left that behind a long time ago, right? This time you’re not trying for an “A+” you’re score is a date.

Your gender, the sex of the person you’re loking for, where you live and your astrological sign form the better part of “About Me - Basics”. When you’re done, about 20 seconds, click the “Send for approval” button.

During the profile completion steps you will be given two options: “Save and continue” and “Send for approval”. “Save and continue” means that you’re either done with the section or you’ll come back to answer the questions. “Send for approval” finalizes your answers (which can be changed later) and sends them to be approved by Match.com staff. This is a safeguard against not only spammers but also people that might be using the service for other nefarious reasons. Crime in online dating services isn’t rampant, but frauds do happen, more so (I believe) in free dating services because they don’t have the resources to check each profile for clarity and common sense, something that is often lacking at free dating services and with criminals too.

It is important to remember that whenever you edit, change or modify your profile you must “Send for approval” before it is again displayed for others to see. This is important to remember because, firstly, your profile is not available during this time, although communication is not stopped between people you’ve had contact with so far (unless they block you), and secondly, recently approved profiles appear closer to the top (first) just as profiles with pictures are shown before profiles without pictures.

While I do recommend regular updating to both your headline and your profile, you shouldn’t be doing this so often that your profile is almost always waiting for approval.

You should be able to complete the 6 sections of the “About Me” profile area in under 10 minutes. Take your time and be honest with yourself and those that will read your profile, because honesty counts.

When you’re done with this part of today’s Match.com Marathon click on the “search” button and take a look at some of the people waiting to meet you.

How Dates Happen: Dating Profile Headline of the Day

It is your turn to wink!

Monday

Start the week off right, get a date for Friday!!! Here.

Honestly, if you can’t find a date here, then you’re either:
1) not trying very hard, or;
2) waiting for a date to find you.

Let me put you in on a little secret: you have to want to get a date to get the date. Dates don’t just happen, they take work, determination, and most of all, communication.

Communication, in this case, means saying “Hello” and sending someone a “Wink” to let them know you’re interested.

You can do this!

If you haven’t joined here yet then today is a good day to do it. You can get your profile posted and have it approved by tomorrow morning and be sending out all the free winks you can by lunchtime. Just remember in advance the “wink rules”:
- you can only send out one wink to a member once within 30 days
- you can wink back to someone that has sent you a wink
- you can send a reply of “Not interested” to someone that has sent you a wink
- you can send a maximum of 50 winks a day
- you can not turn off the ability to receive winks from other members except for “hiding” your account which makes you inactive and invisible to all other members, even those you have exchanged messages with

Are you ready yet? yes, of course you are.

Now, you’ve joined, you’ve started your profile and uploaded a photo (or many photos) of yourself and the finishing touch is your headline. Let me suggest this one for you:
“It’s a race to see how will wink first and it’s your turn!”

Have a great day!

Match.com “Like at first sight” quiz

If you’re not a current member of Match.com then you’ve got to join and try the new tool “Like at first sight”.

“Like at first site” is a quiz that will help the matching system of Match personals to better understand you and the people you should be matched up with. Throughout this test you’re asked to select which ever you like the most out of a group of photos or audio samples.

It’s a fun 13 part quiz that starts off with asking you to select the photo of a celebrity (of the opposite sex for heterosexual members) that you like. You don’t get any names to go with the photos, but I don’t really think their name would make much of a difference. Then select a body type photo (step 2).

Then the shape of a face (female faces are shown for male members, vice versa for women members, step 3).

A variety of body parts (some naked!) is shown for step four, such as arms, hips, legs, lips, backs, smiles, etc.

Step five are hairstyles, step six is asking you to pick from different types of ways women dress (no naked option here, lol).

Which detail do you notice most about a woman is step 7 and step 8 photo is which do you find sexier than the others.

Listening to three different female voice files is step nine (this is optional, you can skip if you want) and the step ten question, is which type of women “do you gravitate to” by again selecting one photo from the group. Step 11 is selecting a photo of a woman that you “wish you gravitated to”.

Select a photo of an activity you think brings couples closer for step 12 and select a photo of what you consider a great date activity is in step 13 and finally answer the question “I like it when a woman orders” by selecting the photo represented.

At the end of the quiz you will be shown the profiles of four Match.com members (and up to 25 matches) that could be good matches for you.

This is a fun quiz that helps Match.com find members more suited to you and you’ll have fun taking the quiz too. Who knows, maybe there’s a real relationship waiting to be found at the conclusion of the test. You won’t know if you don’t that the “Like at first sight” quiz so start a free membership and take the quiz now at Match.com.

Dating Profile Headline of the Day

Truth and love.

Monday

Don’t we all just want to be happy?

Despite all of our current personal trials and tribulations, if we can choose our future wouldn’t the basis of all we want is to be happy first?

Mondays always seem to offer a true sense of introspection, that’s what my experience offers.

Another tidbit would be to use the type of dating service that truly appeals to you, not because of simply a TV ad, or radio soundbite but because of the membership that interests you.

There are literally hundreds of small “niche” dating websites that cater from every type of person and personality. From horse riders to whip hurlers you can find that certain (and maybe special too) person in an online dating service.

The opportunities that abound are larger in metro areas, for sure, but that doesn’t mean a rural farmer won’t meet his match online too. There’s a dating website for that. Online dating is partially a numbers game, but not completely. Certainly the eharmony, adult friendfinder and match.com websites with tens of millions of members offer more people to meet in your area, those same members may not share the particular personal trait or behavior that really revs your engine.

So, just any online dating service may not do the job for you, you should allow yourself some input into where you’ll post your personal ad profiles, make an informed decision about the dating services that will consume your time, effort, and yes, your money too.

There are steps you need to take to effectively use online dating services to your, and their, best advantage:
1. select the right dating service for your ideal match
2. post an appropriate personal profile that not only goes into detail about the type of person you want to meet but the type of person you are, that they will meet
3. post appropriate photos of yourself, and only yourself according to the dating service’s photo guidelines
4. write an enticing headline that will grab the attention of the type of person you want to meet and change your headline regularly, not just to keep your headline fresh but to also give yourself a positional advantage because most dating services place new member and recently edited member profiles at the beginning of their member search results

And, as the title of this post describes, I have a unique dating tip suggestion for your profile headline that I will share with you. For today, Monday, consider using this as your dating profile headline:
“Do you agree that truth and love are the same thing?”

Have a great day!

Dating Profile Headline of the Day

Who are you here to meet?

Wednesday

Have you read “The Road to Serfdom“? (Note a rebuttal here.)

The future is not yours but ours, although the only deciding factor is what I want.

While I do not believe in a pre-ordained destiny I certainly hope there is a better reason for my existence other than a horny Darwinian monkey and a central planner controlling my future for the sake of others.

There are other greater tasks at hand than needing to worry about our “Big Brother” and the impending alien invasion.

Such as getting a date for this Saturday night.

Now, I understand that many of you reading this particular blog post may not yet have a date planned for this coming Saturday, or have had a date this past Saturday, but I’m here to help you turn all that around.

First, by telling you (guiding you) to join any one (or all) of these fine online dating services (for which I will be richly rewarded):
- Match.com - review
- Lavalife - review
- Eharmony.com - review

Secondly, by offering to you a great profile headline that will get you the most attention, and greatest number of replies to your profile, as possible.

And today, I suggest this as your headline to be posted:
“So who are you really here to meet?”

Have a great day!

3 things you need to know about Match.com

Online dating is hard enough, with all the personal details revealed to perfect, or rather imperfect, strangers.

When you’re searching for that perfect mate remember to stretch your 100% perfect match compatibility into the low 80′s so that you’re more open to meeting people and beginning new relationships.

Even diamonds start “in the rough”.

View Photos of Singles Near You

View Photos of Singles Near You

As a new member to Match.com there are three things that you should know so your profile can be seen more often and you really do have a fair chance at finding love online, after all, to stand out in a crowd (20,000 new members every day) you have to tilt the table in your favor.

1) Login often, once a day at least. Active members, even free members, show up higher in the members search results.

2) Have several photos uploaded to your profile and make sure that your primary photo is only you, and no one else, in it. Profiles that have photos are searched through much more often.

3) It’s free to send winks to other members, so send them and hope that your profile is interesting enough that those you wink at will show mutual interest. At Match.com you can wink at 50 members every 24 hour period and only at the same member once every 30 minutes. But you wouldn’t ‘cyber-stalk’ someone using winks, would you?

Now you’re ready to join Match.com - see you there!
