Friday

I hope you have nig plans for tonight… it is Superbowl weekend after all, a lot of what happens tonight will determine where and with whom you see the game with on Sunday.

And to get that invite, that “game date” you need to be an interesting person with great conversation skills (remember, the best conversationalist listens more than talks!).

Here are some topics from this week’s past events to talk about and start your conversations easily with anyone you meet this weekend.

1. Has Michael Jackson’s doctor been arrested? This news blog seems to indicate so, or does it?

2. Haiti earthquake survivor get’s dinged on replacement iPhone. After surviving a fourth floor ride to the ground during the earthquake, survivor loses out on recently activated, and now crushed, iPhone until complaints get heard higher up.

3. Facebook launches games dashboard - as if that’s all we do, socialize while trying to get a bigger farm in Farmville or beating a high score in Bejeweled Blitz…LOL

4. Terrorists and subversives must register in South Carolina - under penalty of fine, imprisonment, or both. WTF?

5. Lender forecloses on homeless shelter - 700 homeless men are… homeless.

You just can’t make this stuff up!

Friday

Friday is here again, all rejoice! (And have a beer for me too!)

Today I have some very informative, and conversational, news items to share with you. Read them all and be ready with a sharp wit and a knowledgeable disposition.

- The missing lotter winner found? Not to throw comedy at tragedy but Mr. Abraham Shapkespeare might have been found buried under 5 feet of concrete. If you recall, Mr. Shakespeare’s lottery winning life started with a coworker saying that the winning ticket was stolen from him, his girlfriend (?) conned him out of an almost million dollar home and untold thousands of dollars and might just be the major suspect in the death, due to her activities of trying to get money out of bank accounts that were his well after he was declared missing and possible met with foul play. Overall this sounds like a real made-for-tv movie.

- Did Apple lay down the biggest boner ever with their new iPad? I think so. No multitasking (surfing and listening to music for instance), no HDMI connector and a host of other “not-haves” makes this a not have for me, at least until version 2 comes out.

- Did you read about the smart family that changed to natural gas instead of heating oil? Neither did their heating oil delivery company… family now living in hotel… SHAZAM!

- How about the girl that videoed the guy playing with his pet chicken (or maybe his gf) on the subway, all rolling around, hugging and kissing his chicken…. With video here. You just can’t make this stuff up!

- The myth of mispelt tattoos is a myth no longer. Complete with pictures! You might want to print some of these out to share at the bar, since they don’t have wifi there yet.

Have a great weekend!

If you’ve followed this part of the blog you’ll know already what this is a about: News topics from the past week that you can quickly read online and have some conversation topics ready for this weekend. After all, you have to get your news from somewhere, so that you’re “current”, and I’m glad you’ve chosen the aLoveLinksPlus Blog to help you. So here goes for this week:

1. The Royal Society of Britain has posted online an original copy of “The Memoirs of Isaac Newton” by William Stukeley. Not only posted online but available in 3D too! Silverlight also, for those of you whose old computer cannot handle the 3D software (download may be required for both.)

2. Tiger Woods caught outside at sex rehab clinic… enough said.

3. Vancouver Winter Olympics could be snowless. Less than 3 weeks away and there’s little, if any, snow in the Winter Olympics venues. Officials take heat…lol…

4. All star “Hope for Haiti” Telethon at 8:00pm ET tonight. Boasts plenty of stars to help raise money for the relief effort for Haiti after devastating 7.0 earthquake.

5. Amazon “Kindle” to have apps store to compete against unreleased Apple tablet which is widely expected to be unveiled January 27.

Have a great weekend!

Friday’s Conversation Topics

Here you are, this week’s conversation topics from recent news.

Everyone loves a great conversationalist and recent news headlines are the right topics to share!

1. Blippy.com debuts. Share your purchases with the world, and your friends, and be the consummate consumer. Seriously, enter your credit card details, your debit card, and let Blippy post your purchases online for all the world to see. Seriously.

2. Tragedy in Haiti. Can you even fathom tens of thousands dead? Have you donated to the appeal for help?

3. China attacks Google and the world. Or something. Should we be concerned? Will the Internet ever be the place for a free, safe exchange of information, as it has always been hoped to be? Will software companies ever really be up to the challenge of keeping us safe?

4. Vancouver Olympics. Terrorist threats start to be taken seriously. But will there be snow? Weather experts aren’t so sure.

5. Need to carry a six-pack around with ease? This is the answer, with pic.

- You must have read about the 42 mother of two from Houston, Texas, travelling to Canada to meet her 16 year old “soul mate” that she met in the online game “World of Warcraft”. I guess she should have stayed where she was. Read more here…

- Apple will be unveiling the much anticipated “Tablet computer (?)” on Wednesday January 27 2010. Maybe. Maybe not. But pretty well every blogger and investor seems to believe. If the WJS says it’s true, then I believe.

- Is a New |Year’s resolution of your’s to lose weight? Don’t count on package calorie counts to help. This published study tells you that many popular foods that are made available to people on specific diet plans may contain as much as 8% higher calories. Foe the time being, until new accurate packaging starts to hit the shelves just eat two less tablespoons of each meal. Read more here….

- One of the worst winters of the last 100 years to hammer at London this week deflated “climate warmers spiel”, for now. I’m sure it will be a hot summer, full of Australian forest fires to even the score. Do you believe? Read more here…

Stuffed still?

I love turkey left-overs. Turkey sandwiches, turkey soup.
Mmm.

And this holiday week is not short of any great news stories. You’re going to have fun catching up on the week in review and being ready to discuss these interesting happenings.

- Man in coma 23 years was aware of everything happening around him . Wow, frozen inside your own body. I really can’t imagine any worse punishment. What about you? What do you think?

- Facebook worm hidden in bikini-wearing woman ad. Anti-virus company AVG announced discovery of a Facebook worm being posted to user’s walls. facebook says very few users affected. On an unrealted note, I like bikini wearing women.

- Which store will be the first to open on Black Friday? Do you even care or are have you been camping out since Wednesday? What’s your shopping story?

- Adam Lambert. American Idol loser, man-on-man kiss and one of the most graphic performances I’ve ever seen on the AMA’s. Were you just a sgrossed out as I was? He does admit to getting “carrried away” and that’s just what I was thinking, someone please take him away!

Friday’s Conversation Topics

If you want to be noticed generally if you have an intelligent thing to say, or an interesting thing to say, or a strange news type of thing to say (or any combination thereof) you can start and carry an interesting conversation.

Today we look at several news happenings this week and bring to you great conversation topics. Be sure to read the stories that are linked to my descriptions.

1. Ballon Boy’s parents plead guilty. Was there any question that this poor attempt at capturing the hearts and minds of people worldwide that watched in real time the fear of a balloon carrying away a small boy would end in a real disaster, not the TV show the parents so fervently hoped for? Yeah, right. The dad, Richard Heene, will be sentenced in December.

2. TMZ.com has wisely still not publicized the sex tape Carrie Prejean made. Maybe the lawyers have some type of porn charge waiting in the wings over the existence of the tape? Aftre all, Carrie Prejean, by her own admission, was 17 when she ‘stupidly’ made the video for her then current boyfriend. What the hell are kids watching these days that gives them these ideas?

2. Are you too ugly to date? Let the members decide, right? After all, if they’re in, they are beautiful people, and if you’re not, well, you’re not.

3. Rich, talented and beautiful. Discover the top celebrities and what thye make in a year. Then go and cry because you’ve figured out that what these stars make in a day you mak eina year, or two.

Friday’s Conversation Topics

I know you have a busy life, who doesn’t these days?
But I am here to help, not chastise.

This Friday we feature news articles and tidbits that are sure to propel any conversation, whether group or one-on-one into the “I am strongly attracted to you” phase of this new budding relation.

Good for you!

Now then, start by reading these items:

1. “Balloon Boy” - Never mind that the story had a happy and wasteful ending, never mind that thousands across the web watched the story live as it unfolded. the real story if the lifestyle of the whole family. Chasing storm, tornados, goodness, I bet their life insurance is sky-high and getting re-adjusted right this very moment.

2. Interracial couple refused marriage license - The judge had concerns about the children that might come later. In this day and age, really!

3. Michael Jackson film selling out worldwide -”This Is It” is composed of footage of the “Thriller” singer rehearsing for a series of London comeback concerts just before his unexpected June 25 death, at age 50, from an overdose of powerful medication. The studio has said the 112-minute movie will have a limited two-week engagement around the world, starting October 28.

4. Elvis’s hair to go on the auction block - ever wanted to own the hair of a mad dead since 1977? This is your chance. There’s other stuff being sold, buy hey, hair!

5. Travel horror stories - what would be a conversation without ways that other people’s lives have been screwed uo rgiught no (or little) fault of their own. Enjoy!

Have a great conversational Friday night.
