Happy Birthday! aLoveLinksPlus.com celebrates 10 years online

2009 March 10

It was a cold March day in 1999 when I decided that I should accumulate the information I had on a few dozen dating services and place them in one location, one website, so my reviews could help others find love online, just as I did.

Ten years later I am proud of the information and advice made available to the over 10,950,000 visitors to aLoveLinksPlus.com and I hope that my work has helped you as well.

Love is not only out there, it’s in here too.

Best wishes,
Robert Lee

Would you pay for a Free Dating Service?

2009 March 6

This week, it seems, a new membership tier will be introduced at PlentyofFish.com.
Members will be able to purchase a 3, 6 or 12 month membership for better visibility on the dating site but no other features.

Whether this is a better value for members remains to be seen, but I think that, if you want a paid service, that’s what you should join.

Would you pay something for (really) nothing?

How many “serious singles” are at PlentyofFish.com is an estimation that resides in the low numbers, like the people that go into a retail store for free coffee, donuts and other freebies, plenty of visits but no sales.

Good luck guys!

Make Online Dating Work For You!

2009 March 5

There is no doubt that in a tough economy online dating has certain benefits over a night at the local watering hole hoping to find Ms Right (or Mr. Right) sitting, waiting, and available for you.

This is the real world and a $30.00 monthly membership is a lot better than the cost of a few drinks and a few phone numbers that you wrote down incorrectly (they wouldn’t have given you a wrong number, would they?) over the span of a month or two, right?

At least with online dating, most “well-rounded” services have enough to keep you going through, at least, dozens of profiles and sending a few messages of interest a night. And a mid-afternoon coffee date is a lot better than a drunken night of nothing, again, am I right?

So take heart, despite all the bad news that gathers the headlines… online dating is mainstream and it’s your friend’s nerdy brother hanging out at the bar these days.

Nigerian Dating Scam

2009 March 5

This is another cautionary tale about finding love online.

A woman is romanced with the criminal finding her and contacting her through her dating profile.

After many conversations and even phone calls, once love was admitted to the requests for money started.

Even though the woman was cautioned by her friends not to send any money, the woman fell victim to tugs of the heart and sent thousands of dollars for a variety of reasons to this Nigerian fraudster.

Read the article here.

So, what have we learned? Do not send money to someone you have met online, no matter how sincere they seem.

My motto is “Until you can smell them, it’s not really love”.
