Rockmelt can’t find Facebook

Rockmelt can't find Facebook

Rockmelt can't find Facebook

So what do you do when the new Rockmelt browser, that has gotten so much attention lately, can’t find Facebook on which the browser is supposed to be so well integrated with?

I know a lot of things but I don’t know the answer for this one. it’s a very plain error message though. “Not Found”, rather basic and frightening in it’s perspective.

I do like the Rockmelt browser otherwise. It’s using the Google Chrome engine, so it looks like the browser Chrome, which I am hoping I can figure out how to change the plain-jane browser look.

I do like the social features and having all my Facebook links right at hand, making me even more lazy I don’t have to even click between browser tabs anymore…LOL.

You’ll need to request an invite to test Rockmelt and if you’re given the approval you can then invite 3 friends to try Rockmelt too. Nothing like making a social browser a little more social, eh?

I just hope Rockmelt can find Facebook again soon…..

Of course, my next move was to close and restart Rockmelt, so imagine my surprise when this “Not Found” error page showed up… I guess if you can’t access Facebook (which seems to happen at least 5 nights out of 7 for anywhere from a few minutes to several hours) you can’t even start Rockmelt… looks like life sucks for this browser!

Rockmelt will not start!

Match.com “Like at first sight” quiz

If you’re not a current member of Match.com then you’ve got to join and try the new tool “Like at first sight”.

“Like at first site” is a quiz that will help the matching system of Match personals to better understand you and the people you should be matched up with. Throughout this test you’re asked to select which ever you like the most out of a group of photos or audio samples.

It’s a fun 13 part quiz that starts off with asking you to select the photo of a celebrity (of the opposite sex for heterosexual members) that you like. You don’t get any names to go with the photos, but I don’t really think their name would make much of a difference. Then select a body type photo (step 2).

Then the shape of a face (female faces are shown for male members, vice versa for women members, step 3).

A variety of body parts (some naked!) is shown for step four, such as arms, hips, legs, lips, backs, smiles, etc.

Step five are hairstyles, step six is asking you to pick from different types of ways women dress (no naked option here, lol).

Which detail do you notice most about a woman is step 7 and step 8 photo is which do you find sexier than the others.

Listening to three different female voice files is step nine (this is optional, you can skip if you want) and the step ten question, is which type of women “do you gravitate to” by again selecting one photo from the group. Step 11 is selecting a photo of a woman that you “wish you gravitated to”.

Select a photo of an activity you think brings couples closer for step 12 and select a photo of what you consider a great date activity is in step 13 and finally answer the question “I like it when a woman orders” by selecting the photo represented.

At the end of the quiz you will be shown the profiles of four Match.com members (and up to 25 matches) that could be good matches for you.

This is a fun quiz that helps Match.com find members more suited to you and you’ll have fun taking the quiz too. Who knows, maybe there’s a real relationship waiting to be found at the conclusion of the test. You won’t know if you don’t that the “Like at first sight” quiz so start a free membership and take the quiz now at Match.com.

Where are all the women?

I have been asked “Where are all the women on Chatroulette.com?” several times now and after checking it out myself, again, I have to admit, there sure are a lot of guy’s exposing themselves but not too many women to be seen to chat with.

I guess the anonymity of chatroulette is too good a thing for guys to pass up on but is just too pornographic for women to find a lot of interest in striking up a conversation by clicking intoa “new game” only to find another erect penis being wagged at their webcam.

After all, the idea was that you could simply start chatroulette up and type/video chat with someone, like a speed dating system, without the time limitation. But the reality is that, as I have said before, too many guys exposing themselves ruins it for everyone else.

So much for this “fun game”… Well, there’s always Cams.com

Attracting Women on Chatroulette

Chatroulette.com is a simple idea that has taken the web by storm.

Whether it’s the anonymity or the excitement of not knowing what or who you’re going to see next, it’s online webcam entertainment that you should try at least once.

Tips for using chatroulette:
- Smile. Unless you’re naked your smile is the first thing someone will see.
- Ask what part of the world they are in (even if there comments say where they are) because it’s a friendly thing to do.
- Ask if they’re a first time user and no matter what, say that you are.
- If you’re interested in them give them your email address to continue talking with them, don’t ask for theirs, it’s not polite.

Chatroulette.com regularly has more than 20,000 users online at any time so you’re sure to meet some nice, and some strange, people.

Have fun!

Your Privacy, Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg

Facebook.com privacy?

Open Letter to Mark Zuckerberg, founder, Facebook.com

Dear Mr. Zuckerberg,
Anyone over 30 will tell you that their lives are private. Even celebrities that live in the spotlight seek personal and private time for themselves.

Why? Because, as the social creatures that we humans are, we like also to be in control.

And our basic type of control is in what we share about ourselves, because, we believe, that what we deem to be personal and private ought to stay that way.

Now comes along a guy in charge of a very large company, with millions of members that “share” their private stuff with friends by using this guy’s online social website.

Certainly we use this site (and many other sites like it as well) to exchange messages, as well as daily events, with our friends there. We do so under the guise that no matter what, if we want certain aspects of our lives to remain private then we want to have control over the information that is made available about ourselves. Now and at any time in the future, as we see fit.

We shouldn’t have to ask, beg or plead for this type of control, it should be offered freely and respectfully to us.

But you, Mark Zuckerberg, head of Facebook.com, a social website with more than 350 million members, doesn’t see the privacy and the personal control issue this way.

Watch the video:

The norm for posting things on the web has been, and likely will always be, that as soon as you publish it, it’s there forever.

However, this is contrary to the privacy laws of many countries and as a private company Facebook.com walks a very fine line with their privacy policy and the access/denial and post/unpublish controls that members have over what they themselves post as public/private content.

Mark Zuckerberg would have us believe that their are more people that feel that there should be no privacy controls whatsoever for online social services (as if that was the beginning and the end of the privacy issue concerning a private person publishing content to their “own” pages) and that everything should be public. Period.

Mr. Zuckerberg, I ask you to maintain, if not improve, the controls that members have to protect the personal information that they post on your social business website and turn yourself around from believing that many people want the world to operate in a different way.

Certainly there are millions of people (generally under the age of 30) that do not quite grasp the reality of what privacy really means. They do not understand how the Internet will follow them for the rest of their lives. They have yet to see the challenges of information being used against them, like some totalatarism machine that is about to be awoken.

Yes, everyone is Googling everyone else. We search Facebook.com as well as many other online social services to get the “honest story” of someone’s life, maybe someone we have just met, maybe an employment candidate.

People should be in charge of what they publish as much as possible, not as little as possible. And that should extend into the future just as copyright protects books from being unfairly republished and/or the rights of the author stripped away before legally permissable.

Mr. Zuckerberg, reverse your stand, rethink your position.

Or within 5 years we will see the implosion of Facebook.com because of the now very real personal information danger spot it will become.

Regards,
Robert Lee
