Friday’s News Wrap-up for Conversations to Talk About

It’s Christmas Day… YEAH!!

… you have places to go and/or people to chat (maybe online) with… Whatever you’re going to be doing today, and this holiday weekend, you’ll need something to talk about. Especially all you people meeting the girl-/boy-friends parents and families for the first time during this holiday celebration.

So this is what you want to read so you know something to be able to talk intelligently about. Read on.

- Wikileaks all 250,000 documents leaked. The Norwegian paper Aftenposten says they have all of the more than 250,000 wikileaks documents before they will all be released to the newspapers that so far are only releasing a few of the US diplomatic cables at a time. First sex crime allegations and now this… has Wiki-leaks become a parody of their own stated mission?

- Steve Jobs is “Person of the Year”. The British Financial Times has made their pick and it’s Apple’s CEO to carry the torch forward. Did Mr. Jobs really deserve this honor? It’s one thing to sell some stuff, but on a whole outlook I think not.

- Studying icicles offers weird explanations of how they grow and why they are shaped the way they are. I’m not sure where or why this story is here but hey, it’s the holiday’s, right?

- Man charged with causing unnecessary suffering to fish after buying it and swallowing it. Video of alleged crime is somewhere on facebook.

This week’s best news stories that are great to talk about is what you’re about to read, because if you have nothing to say you’re nothing but a flower stuck on the wall… get it “wall flower”?

Sure, not my best “Joke of the Day” but it get’s all the marks it’s due by the effort put behind it. Or something… thanks to Craig Ferguson for making all of this possible. It’s true what they say, it wasn’t Al Gore that created the Internet, it was Craig Ferguson!

And on to this week’s best conversational news stories:

- Porn for Kinect. It had to happen, right? After all, it’s the porn industry that has made the biggest “enhancements” to the WWW as we know it. Voice chat (live and with bots), video (recorded and streamed live), hell, even USB plugin attachments that touch you (gently and in the places you most want) too. Kinect sex just makes sense, doesn’t it? Well? Direct CNET quote “The demo shows that the Kinect is suitable for fairly well controlled hand gestures and that those gestures can be incorporated into a sex game. Without being too graphic, it’s clear that the game makers imagine that players will be using the Kinect to interact directly with women (for now) in the game.” Read the full article and see the game video here.

- “Tron: Legacy” finally comes to the big screens (a maybe a lot of small screens too) today. I won’t be going to see this movie and I won’t be watching it at home unless it comes as 2D. I’m just not ready to be entertained that much by a 3D movie…

- $450.00 for a Christmas tree? Sure, if you have money to burn (yes, even in this economy there are people that still make money) and enjoy the season more than most (again, because you have money to burn). Ho ho ho.

- The wedding proposal… guy’s, the bar has gotten very high this year. Film creator comments “For the whole romantic story, check out my blog post: http://ceaserphotography.com/blog/archives/192 The Proposal is a short film I created to propose to my longtime love, Sara. Filmed and edited like a movie trailer, the proposal was shown in a real movie theater at the Red River Theater http://www.redrivertheatres.org in Concord New Hampshire on 12/12/10 at 4pm. Dear friends and family snuck into the theater after the lights went down and were present when the trailer debuted. Music credit: “Yours Alone” by Nicholas Kirk and William Wilkerson. Listen to their wonderful music at http://www.whitestonemotionpictures.com/music-downloads“.

Friday’s Conversation Topics

It’s today that the weekly roundup of the best news stories to talk about appear here. You will want to read my comments, then the news story, and move on to the next. There isn’t a test but this is practice for real life so you have a few interesting things to say tonight and this weekend. Current events make a person interesting and interesting people get names, phone numbers and email addresses, then a date. Read on McDuff!

And remember: today is “Proud To Be Me Day”!

- Do you think you’re safe visiting a porn site? Yeah, I know, the obvious answer is “You’re not safe visiting a porn site” and, of course, you’d be right. Some guy’s just have to learn the lesson the hard way. Good thing the Feds are on the case.

- Remote controlled mice. The hell with the ethics of it all, if we can fit a wire in it, let’s make it remote controlled. there has to be a lesson about keeping control of teens in here somewhere.

- Gun-toting Santa draws fire. Yes, I couldn’t resist saying that, but what the hell, it’s Christmas. And I think that if people want to have Santa wearing a gun, or eating M&M’s or a slice of pizza, well let them. We do know all about the real Santa Claus, don’t we? Why do you think NORAD tracks him every year, for the fun of it? Geesh.

- 50 year old man get’s appointment for pregnancy ultrasound to check health of his twin fetuses. Even as I’m writing this I’m wondering why I didn’t think this up, it’s be a great practical joke if it wasn’t for the fact that this is a true story, complete with photo of “pregnant” papa and letter from hospital for ultrasound.

- How to get paid doing nothing. Forbes.com has some of the best articles and I know that I’ve now learned a trick or two. Look out work-horses, you’re load is about to get a lot heavier! There’s pictures too!

Have a great weekend!

Friday’s Conversation Topics

Another week, another few days of wackiness and newsworthy stories. It’s all about what I have and what you want this week. You’re going to want to talk about these news stories. Really! Read on.

- “I know the law”… and now this Spanish lady owns the sun. It’s amazing what the power of a notary public is and I have to wonder what Angeles Duran is going to charge us for using the sun. This is a great entrepreneurial job, don’t you think? Hmmm…

- It’s a good probability that your computer is already fingerprinted (that is, cataloged by each device’s unique combination of hardware, software and installed fonts) and you’re being tracked more intricately that ever before. David Norris’s company BlueCava has already fingerprinted 200 million internet devices and expects to have more than 1 billion devices fingerprinted and trackable for online advertisers by the end of 2011. It’s going to be very hard to use any internet-enabled device and not be followed online soon, if not already.

- Yes, I said he has a camera in the back of his head. Hey, everyone wants to be known as “the first” and academia being what it is these days, if you can’t impress one way, go farther than anyone else and make your mark with a camera in the back of your head. yes, this article includes a video to sate your curiosity and give you even more to talk about. “The thumb-sized camera is mounted on a titanium plate inserted inside the back of his head” Professor Wafaa Bilal said. Once the camera is broadcasting via a computer Professor Bilal carries with him you’ll be able to view the pictures at www.3rdi.me.

- In these hard times there’s always a story of a guy, somewhere, augmenting his income in a less-than-lawful way. Mr. Gumbs, while working at the Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, managed to order a few extra toner cartidges and (possibly but this has yet to be proven in court) sold them on some ink-black-market. Well, maybe a little more than a few, maybe more like $3.4 million dollars of excess (and still missing) toner purchased since 2004 that never made it into the hospital’s supply system. Of course, a lot of the ink didn’t even fit any of the printers that are in use at Sloan-Kettering. I guess this was a “great job” for a while…

Have a great week!

Interesting Conversation Topics

This week has again not disappointed us with some interesting and fun things to talk about. But I will be making a trip to the bank…lol…

- Wi-Fi is killing the trees. Dutch researchers have discovered that the closer a tree is to a wi-fi connection the more likely it is to suffer physical harm. Bleeding and deep fissures have been found on trees within a wi-fi region in urban ares while similar trees in rural areas are not showing similar injuries. Anyone ready to open up the cell-phone and cancer discussion again? Or maybe just start shopping for some radiation-sheilding clothing?

- Man leaves life savings on top of car and drives away. Of course he loses all of his money but finds the empty plastic bag later in his frantic search. Yes, there still are people that don’t trust banks and in this day and age who can blame them? But still….

- Big boobs get extra attention. Yes, another lop-sided complaint against the TSA. Eliana Sutherland said “It was pretty obvious. One of the guys that was staring me up and down was the one who pulled me over,’ she said. ‘Not a comfortable feeling.” I have also been objectified so I do understand. Scroll down (in the article), I like the underwear.

- Woman fears breasts will be re-possessed. Three things you don’t want your ex-boyfriend to leave you with: any STD, children and a debt for your breast implants. Yes, times are tough, but no matter how hard the economy makes life there are many things you should not owe money on, including your newly augmented boobs, especially owing the money to a guy you dump.

- Petville rings us $400.00 bill for parents. Another sad Facebook game story but the rules still remain: you’re responsible for what your kids do, online or RL (Real Life).

Hey, have a great weekend. Talk up a storm!

Friday’s Conversation Topics

This past week has given us al lot to talk about. The news never stops, does it?
So, as you’re out and about this weekend, or simply exchanging emails during your free communication weekend at Chemistry.com, these stories will prepare you with something interesting to say.

- The Chilean miners that survived 69 days trapped undergound, and captured the attention of hundereds of millions of people, landed in America and started with a tour of Hollywood yesterday. These men truly are real heroes and I wish them the best in their celebrity. (Article includes vieo of their arrival and parts of their first day’s visit.)

- Burger King fires employees after figuring out how to reset the printed text on receipts and insert “Fuck You” onto the copies given to customers (with news video). Hahaha, I’d rethink their firing and offer them a promotion to the marketing division.

- Man arrested after starting fire in house while burning photos of ex-girlfriend to appease current girlfriend. I have to wonder what the phots were of, possibly nude pictures? And how did the current girlfriend find them to start the arguement that lead to the burning of the photos? So many unanswered questions. The moral of the story? Get a safety deposit box for all your photographic keepsakes to avoid burning dowen your house. LOL.

- The new never-ending war against the TSA and security pat-downs and x-ray machines reaches a new low with breast cancer survivor forced to reveal her prosthetic breast during security check. Honestly, is there not a better way to safegurd us agianst terror attacks while preserving our personal privacy and our humanity on the whole? (“Don’t touch my junk” vidoe here or watch it below.) News article includes a wealth of information and more stories about the intrusiveness of the TSA security scans and pat-downs.

- Here’s one for creativity: Man pretends to be a plastic surgeon and offers women his skills as a “boob enhance doctor) and feels women up during “breast exams” in bars. Yes, he gets arrested. But you have to wonder how truthful his spiel was that he’d get women to allow him to touch their breasts in the bar for an “exam”. And how much alcohol did these women drink to allow themselves to get felt up. It’s a weird world out there, isn’t it? My favorite part of this article: “The Idaho Statesman website reported that Ross has a previous criminal record as a man but identifies herself as a woman and was booked into Ada County Jail as a female.”)

Have a great weekend!

Friday’s Conversation Topics For Dates

Friday’s conversation topic articles. OK, the mid-term elections are over, out with the old and in with the new politicos that will lie and steal and cheat their way to a rich retirement. What’s that old line, “Don’t vote the government always gets elected”, no matter what government always gets bigger and our share to pay for it gets larger. That’s my political rant for this week, let’s move on to more conversational stories;

- Microsoft Kinect system is racist? In a story that was circulated yesterday, the online gamers site gamespot says that people of a darker color have a problem using the Kinect motion sensing system because of their dark skin while white players do not have any troubles. In a contrary report Consumers Report said their testing found no such issues. Gizmodo seems to like the system too.

- The largest plane in the world has engine troubles. Qantas grounded their 9 A380 Airbus planes after a plane lost an engine cover mid-flight. Generally I’m not afraid of flying but geesh… at least the plane did land safely after dumping a lot of fuel and a big left turn for the airport, Singapore’s Changi Airport.

- Has the popular hacker and commotion causing site 4chan finally been outed as an outlet for kiddie porn? Now that would be revenge on the revenge-takers, wouldn’t it?

- Bacon flavored soda pop? Sure, as they say, who has time to make bacon every morning, why not just drink it with your eggs? Ugh. taste test video below.

Have a great weekend!

Friday’s Conversation Topics

Wow, this week just sped by… and do you know that Christmas is now only 8 weeks away!

Wow again!

This week there is plenty to talk about and, as a bonus just for you, a few current news stories that will make great conversation when you need to add your voice to the convo. So keep reading and learn something to speak about from these five interesting news stories from the past week.

- Yes, many government have such high borrowing debts that Germany (in the EU) says, hey, make the bondholders lose all of their investments and let the regular citizens life a better, less austere life. I’m all for that, in a way. End the incredibly high priced bailouts and let those that invested in the government bonds lose out just like any other investor. And return life to normal without all of these high tax increases, restricted austerity measures and let’s just wipe the slate clean (Like the North American automakers burned their stock holders but are still in business today (could be a reasonable case study there) and start anew. Right. (By the way, my savings are still safe, right?)

- The story first surfaced in a YouTube video that includes film footage showing the 1928 premiere of the Charlie Chaplin film “The Circus” at Manns Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Irish filmmaker George Clarke points out a woman in the old footage holding what he describes as a cell phone against her ear. The shape implies the woman is a time traveler using a modern mobile device rather than an ear trumpet, Clarke said. Watch the video below and see for yourself.

- With Halloween just days away, be sure to view, then share, these photos of the 25 Hottest Scary Movie Starlets. There’s some good newbie starlets and some much older previously viewed starlets (LOL) like Mariska Hargitay (Law and Order:SVU fame) in the silly 1985 flick ‘Ghoulies’ and plenty more. Great trivia facts to learn here too.

- Cops don’t like when you waterboard your girlfriend, even if he thinks you’re cheating. Really, dude, is she that special that you’ll do something to spend a few years in jail for?

- 4 year old on a bike with training wheels can be sued by the elderly lady she ran down. Some days sorry just isn’t enough in New York City. Apparently, under four is too old to be charged with negligence but over four you’re going to end up in court. Of course the 87 year old lady did die 3 weeks later. I see a lot of bikes with training wheels and a retractable leash under the Christmas tree this year.

Have a great weekend!
