Friday’s Conversation Topics

Wow, this week just sped by… and do you know that Christmas is now only 8 weeks away!

Wow again!

This week there is plenty to talk about and, as a bonus just for you, a few current news stories that will make great conversation when you need to add your voice to the convo. So keep reading and learn something to speak about from these five interesting news stories from the past week.

- Yes, many government have such high borrowing debts that Germany (in the EU) says, hey, make the bondholders lose all of their investments and let the regular citizens life a better, less austere life. I’m all for that, in a way. End the incredibly high priced bailouts and let those that invested in the government bonds lose out just like any other investor. And return life to normal without all of these high tax increases, restricted austerity measures and let’s just wipe the slate clean (Like the North American automakers burned their stock holders but are still in business today (could be a reasonable case study there) and start anew. Right. (By the way, my savings are still safe, right?)

- The story first surfaced in a YouTube video that includes film footage showing the 1928 premiere of the Charlie Chaplin film “The Circus” at Manns Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Irish filmmaker George Clarke points out a woman in the old footage holding what he describes as a cell phone against her ear. The shape implies the woman is a time traveler using a modern mobile device rather than an ear trumpet, Clarke said. Watch the video below and see for yourself.

- With Halloween just days away, be sure to view, then share, these photos of the 25 Hottest Scary Movie Starlets. There’s some good newbie starlets and some much older previously viewed starlets (LOL) like Mariska Hargitay (Law and Order:SVU fame) in the silly 1985 flick ‘Ghoulies’ and plenty more. Great trivia facts to learn here too.

- Cops don’t like when you waterboard your girlfriend, even if he thinks you’re cheating. Really, dude, is she that special that you’ll do something to spend a few years in jail for?

- 4 year old on a bike with training wheels can be sued by the elderly lady she ran down. Some days sorry just isn’t enough in New York City. Apparently, under four is too old to be charged with negligence but over four you’re going to end up in court. Of course the 87 year old lady did die 3 weeks later. I see a lot of bikes with training wheels and a retractable leash under the Christmas tree this year.

Have a great weekend!
