The Best First Date Gift

I’ve written about the “Best gift for a first date” before and have a couple of articles posted too… but it struck me just a couple of minutes ago that all these articles talk about gift “items” like flowers and candy.

But what if the best gift is simple courtesy (which is lacking, so sadly, these days)?

Now, I know that common courtesy begins at home… but I also cut parents some slack here. There is school, friends, mentoring, role models and the whole nine yards that can make a difference here too.

There’s only so many battles parents want to fight and getting a “thank you” and a “you’re welcome” rate low on the list (unfortunately). Teachers have to deal with a multitude of kids and only the good ones get special attention, or the really bad ones. And at this point either the kid has common courtesy or he/she doesn’t.

It’s that simple.

So, what I’ve tried to say, and will make plain here, is that if you want to treat a girl (or a guy) special, be kind and be courteous. That’s the best gift of all.

Giving your date a “thank you” and being nice enough to open their car door, the restaurant door (hell - any door!) is a great start. But being courteous isn’t just when you’re with them either… this includes when you’re on the phone, texting, even when you’re just talking about them with someone else.

Great ways to say “Thank you”:
- I really like this
- this is fun
- how did you know I would like this?
- I’ve been craving this all week
- I’m glad we did this together

Hey, thanks for reading this post, please share it with a friend!
