Let's
start with the basics of weight and why some people are skinny and
some have extra pounds on them....
It's not your fault.
We've all heard that "she has a fast metabolism" and can eat anything and not gain a pound. We've also heard that "I just need to see" a piece of cake to gain five pounds.
In reality it's genetics and heredity that have mapped how our bodies will handle the foods that we eat. Burning calories, storing the excess in fat cells to protect the body from times of famine is an evolutionary reality of our bodies.
With the knowledge that our bodies prefer fat to skinny, just to stay alive, dieting becomes that much harder. Have you tried telling your brain to tell your body "don't be hungry"? Your body just doesn't understand that you want to lose weight! Keeping you fat means staying alive, safe from the famine.
Is it any wonder why so many people "Yo-yo" their weight with different diets, different times of the year and different periods of their lives? The body just doesn't understand what the brain wants. But in answer to the changing caloric intake, muscle is burned up as energy with the body saving the fat cells until the famine really hits hard. Your diet gets harder because you don't see fast results and your cravings far exceed your willpower.
And when you do binge, (just to give in that once!) all those extra calories are being stored as fat and your body begins burning muscle again.. and again... and again.
The never ending cycle of the "yo-yo diet". Actually it's just your body behaving as it's supposed to.
For any change in eating patterns you have to control the body as you do the mind. A diet isn't so much a change in eating as it is a change in thinking! You are fighting your natural human urges. But there is good news. You can change your thinking and have your body agreeing with your brain about the foods you eat, what is nourishment and how to store, and burn off, the calories you eat.
Good
news: You aren't a failure at losing weight!
You are a competitor in a game that's been fixed against you. But you can change the rules. You can gain the advantage and make weight loss goals that your brain and body both agree to.
You aren't a failure. Today is a new day to lose weight and learn the secrets that most women don't know about losing weight.
